Making Tutorial Art Videos - A few HOW TO Tips:
I'm just starting to delve into making art tutorial videos. I'm definitely not a super-slick videographer and I'm not keen on being on camera (hair, makeup, obsessing over how I look, confidence...yuk!)
I've been doing a few and I can offer a couple of tips to anyone who is thinking of doing them:
1. Be methodical and understand that some of your audience knows painting; some does not. Don't assume anything, but don't labor over points. It makes the video long and boring.
2. Be sure to give close-up shots of what you're doing. You may be able to see it in person as you are creating, but the camera may not be picking up all the subtle details. Make sure you either have someone working the camera to zoom in now and then, or hold your artwork closer to the camera to catch subleties.
3. Break the video up into... read entire post here

Art...as a wedding gift?
Sure, but with a few caveats.
How do I choose it? What about price?
Let's go over these questions individually and you can see exactly how (and why) buying original works for the happy couple is a great option (sorry toasters).
First, ask: How well do you know these people?
Family, close friends are one thing; co-workers or associates at work are something else. Some may cross the line into being a very good friend; others may be just the type you say hello to in the hallway or exchange pleasantries at the water cooler on Monday.
In other words, it really depends on how well you know them.
If you know them well and know their lives (are they foodies, art lovers, interested in travelling to exotic locations, starting a family soon, pet lovers, etc.). These will help you determine not only the type of gift but how much to spend.
Here's a good rule of thumb...

Mixed media is not something I do often. I started working with it about a year ago and I love playing with it, creating new images, texures and finished items beyond my normal scope of painting with acrylics and oil.
This painting is 6 x 6 x 2" and is called GIRL POWER.
Created with images, stencils, stamps, ink, acrylics, paper.
I was inspired to create something that showed women through time,
starting with a 50'sish woman, a girl from the 80's (power suit), modern women.
This one is also on deep, stretched canvas 6" x 6" x 2"
Mixed Media artwork
Lots of femininity in this one with images, stamps, ink, acrylics, paper.
I love vintage so this was my ode to vintage women, fashion, femininity.
I hang them together and they look great because they are similary-inspired as well as the same tones/colors.
